BORN AGAINS CELEBRATE

Born Again Christians have vowed to position
themselves to actively participate in politics this
year, and occupy higher offices starting from lower
local councils.

They have said they want to join hands with the government to
develop Uganda into a first world nation, adding that
balokole are no longer underdogs.
They said they would participate in every area, including the
armed forces.

It is for us to decide the direction this nation should
take, Apostle Alex Mitala, chairman of the Born Again
Churches
in Uganda, said. He was preaching to a mammoth crowd
which thronged Namboole Stadium for the Fourth Passover
Festival to welcome the new year.

The tightly guarded ceremony organised by Dr. Joseph
Serwadda's Victory Christian Centre
Church, Ndeeba and Impact
Radio, drew preachers from Israel, France, UK and Uganda.
The Christians were deeply engrossed in prayer when midnight
struck. Waving high white envelopes that contained their
prayer requests for 2005, some openly wept for joy as the
stadium lights that had been dimmed were fully turned on.
Balloons of different colours were released in the air as
musical instruments played.
